MARGARET HERMANT

Margaret Hermant is a violinist, harpist and composer based in Brussels and is a founding member of Echo Collective, Quatuor MP4 and BOW quintet.

As part of Echo Collective, she collaborates actively with composers and artists like Adam Witlzie, Dustin O’Halloran, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Stars of the Lid, Joep Beving, Christina Vantzou, Jóhann Jóhannsson, and Rutger Hoedemaekers. Helping bring to life revered works of post classical music.

She composes in close collaboration with Echo Collective, BOW quintet, and sound engineer/producer Fabien Leseure. Her artistic work always begins with a musical gesture, improvising, playing drones and looking for new sound textures to experiment with.

As a solo composer Margaret Hermant scores music for movies, theater, art installations, and dance performances. She uses mostly harp, violin, and processed accoustic sound.
